A film producer is an individual who is involved in all aspects and phases of a movie as they take charge of its execution starting from inception down to marketing. They hold the rights to the particular movie as they are majorly involved in its financing.
A producer may either be an independent contractor, or an executive in a production company or studio.
A film producer has plenty of responsibilities and duties such as:
Finance, control the budget and cash flow, manage and secure the rights to a project by acquiring its script.
Engage the services of key team members e. g. directors, scriptwriters, artist performers.
Set and supervise the production schedule, making sure that it is followed.
Keep an eye on post-production procedures including editing, musical scoring, test screenings, and other aspects that have to do with finalizing the film and getting it ready for theater release and distribution.
Launch marketing campaigns and ensure public awareness; let the movie be known to a majority of the population through promotions, advertisements, and media coverage.
There are a number of successful film producers but one that stands out is Ryan Colin Kavanaugh, 21st highest-grossing producer in Hollywood history with more than 200 films to his name. He currently has more than 60 Oscar nominations with 8 wins. He founded and was Chief Executive Officer of Relativity Media which was preeminent in film and television financing, production and distribution. It also was actively engaged in music publishing, sports management, and digital media.
Ryan Kavanaugh has since joined Warner Bros. Pictures as an executive starting in 2018.
In 2009, he was named Variety’s Showman Of The Year.
He has given the 2010 Leadership Award by Hollywood Reporter.
