CBD vs THC – a Comparison of Medical Potentials and Side Effects

admin

The worldwide consumption of hemp and cannabis-containing products is growing daily, and more and more people are becoming aware of the plant. However, many still shy away from a lack of education or association with the intoxicating drug. However, the cannabis plant has over 100 different and not necessarily psychoactive ingredients (cannabinoids) often confused and urgently need to be differentiated. But what is the difference between the two active ingredients especially THC Oil Canada? We made a comparison.

How are THC and CBD different?

THC is usually extracted from the female marijuana plant because it has the highest concentration of THC. Also, tetrahydrocannabinol is the active ingredient that causes psychological effects when consumed and is, therefore, responsible for intoxication. In contrast, the THC concentration in regular hemp, so-called industrial hemp, is below 0.2%. Therefore, industrial hemp is mostly used for industrial purposes, for example, for the production of clothing, plastic, or even airplanes and cars. Due to the low THC value, industrial hemp does not have a psychoactive effect, and a state of intoxication can be excluded. Still, the female plant contains a high concentration of cannabinoid CBD.

The medicinal uses of THC and CBD

Both THC and CBD can offer medicinal benefits. The symptoms of chronic or neuropsychiatric illnesses, such as the pain of multiple sclerosis or tics of Tourette, can be reduced with THC-containing cannabis. However, THC Oil in Canada has significantly more side effects and is not recommended for adolescents, as their brains are not fully developed. Besides, THC can also be psychologically dependent. THC use’s temporary side effects include dry mouth, red eyes, Cravings, memory loss, sleep disorders, coordination problems, a longer reaction time, and an increased heart rate.

CBD vs. THC: The Current Legal Situation

CBD does not come under the Narcotics Act. Consumption can therefore be carried out safely. However, private individuals are prohibited from growing industrial hemp, even if its THC content is below 0.2%. The illegal cultivation falls under a violation of the Narcotics Act and is prosecuted.

Usually, THC can be detected in a drug test for up to 12 hours in the blood and 3-5 days in the urine; with regular consumption, however, up to several weeks, as both THC and CBD are fat-soluble and are therefore deposited in adipose tissue. It should be noted that everybody is individual, and the breakdown process can therefore vary considerably.

In which products can you find CBD or THC?

CBD is available in various products and concentrations and is mostly smoked in the form of flowers or ingested through oils. Liquids for vaporizers, foods containing CBD, tea, or pure CBD in the form of crystals are also available.

THC products are subject to the Narcotics Act in Canada and can therefore only be purchased with a prescription from a treating doctor. The product range also includes flowers, oils, and numerous medicines.
